In terms of price, hands down the factory service manual is the best buy because of its affordability. Moreover, if the owners vehicle is broken down, and they work the next day, can they really afford to wait 3 days for a paperback to arrive in the mail? 

The online repair manuals are a great choice, if you have the money. The price for an online version is generally $21.00 to $32.00 more than the cost of a $11.99 dollar download version. That extra money you save can be spent on parts. 

The functionality of the factory service manual offers some excellent convenience too. The downloadable version contains bookmarks to the left of the pages. For example, when viewing the service manual, a list of clickable chapters allows the manual user to navigate directly to the chapter of choice. Once the desired chapter has been chosen. The user can then select the sub-chapter of that chapters index page. This convenience saves a considerable amount of time locating the needed repair procedures.
